A scoop! The first 250cc 2-stroke for on the road and off-the-road with AMF on the fuel tank. Some sources claim the first production year was in 1974, but the manual claims 1974. The SX 175 stood model for the SX 250 and only the 75cc is new. The bore went from 61mm to 72mm which gave the bigger cylinder-content, the stroke remained untouched. One positive thing mentioned in one of the test results was that you could start the engine in any gear.

The SX 250 remained in production till the end of AMF-Harley-Davidson in 1978 and the garantuee period in the U.S was 2 months or 2000 miles. They sold new in the Netherlands for f 4.195,-
